Graduate Certificate in Clinical Nursing
The Graduate Certificate in Clinical Nursing is a postgraduate course designed for registered nurses seeking to advance their knowledge and skills in clinical nursing practice. This course is offered online through ACU Online.
Admission Requirements
To be eligible for admission to the Graduate Certificate in Clinical Nursing, applicants must:
- Have completed a Bachelor of Nursing degree or equivalent
- Hold current registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (Ahpra)
- Comply with the Admission to Coursework Programs Policy
Completion Requirements
To qualify for the degree, students must complete 40 credit points from the Schedule of Unit Offerings, consisting of:
- 20 credit points from Specified Units (Part A)
- 20 credit points from either Specialisation (Part B) or Clinical Nursing Units (Part C)
Specified Units (Part A)
Students must complete exactly 20 credit points from the following units:
- NRSG524 Advanced Pathophysiology for Specialty Nursing Practice (10 credit points)
- NRSG525 Evidence-based, Person-centred Family Care in Specialty Nursing Practice (10 credit points)
Specialisations (Part B)
Students can choose to complete one of the following specialisations:
- Cardiac Care (20 credit points)
- Correctional Health (20 credit points)
- Gerontological Nursing (20 credit points)
- Intensive Care (20 credit points)
- Medical (20 credit points)
- Neuroscience (20 credit points)
- Perioperative (20 credit points)
- Renal (20 credit points)
- Surgical (20 credit points)
Clinical Nursing Units (Part C)
Students who do not choose a specialisation must complete exactly 20 credit points from the following units:
- NRSG544 Clinical Nursing: Advanced Concepts in the Acute and Chronic Care Setting (10 credit points)
- NRSG545 Clinical Nursing: Principles in Nursing Specialty Practice (10 credit points)
- Other units as specified in the course schedule
Course Map
The course map outlines the recommended sequence of units for students to complete the course. Students can commence the course in ACU Term 1, ACU Term 3, or ACU Term 4, and can choose to study part-time.
Progression Requirements
Students are required to follow the pattern of unit enrolment set out in the relevant Course Enrolment Guide, unless otherwise approved by the Course Coordinator.
Credit Points and EFTSL Value
All 10 credit point units in this course have an EFTSL value of 0.125. Units with a credit point value of a multiple of 10 have corresponding EFTSL values.
