Bachelor of Laws (Honours)

The Law degree structure and Law unit offerings have been approved by the Victorian Legal Admissions Board and the Legal Profession Admission Board (NSW).

Credit Points and Duration

• Credit points: 320
• Minimum duration: 4 years full-time or equivalent part-time

Admission Requirements

An applicant must also comply with the Admission to Coursework Programs Policy. To be eligible to apply for admission to the Bachelor (Honours) degree, a student must have completed at least 120 cp of LAWS units from the Bachelor of Laws degree, with a grade point average (GPA) of at least 5.75.

Completion Requirements

To qualify for the degree, a student must complete 320 cp from the Schedule of Unit Offerings, consisting of:

1. 180 cp from Law Specified Units (Part A)
2. 10 cp LAWS450 Legal Research and Methodology (Part B)
3. 30 cp LAWS451 Honours Thesis (Part C)
4. 50 cp from Law Elective Units (Part D)
5. 20 cp Core Curriculum Units (Part E)
6. 20 cp from General Elective Units (Part F)
7. 10 cp from Community Legal Engagement: Pro Bono (Part G)

Other Requirements

Students are required to follow the pattern of unit enrolment set out in the relevant Course Enrolment Guide, unless otherwise approved by the Course Coordinator.

Progression Requirements

Students normally complete a unit or units at introductory level (100-level) before undertaking advanced level units (200, 300, 400 level).
