Bachelor of Occupational Therapy (Honours)

Overview

The Bachelor of Occupational Therapy (Honours) is a four-year full-time or equivalent part-time course that provides students with a comprehensive education in occupational therapy. The course is designed to equip students with the knowledge, skills, and attitudes necessary to practice as an occupational therapist in a variety of settings.


Credit Points and Duration

The course consists of 320 credit points and can be completed in four years of full-time study or equivalent part-time study.

Admission Requirements

To be eligible for admission to the course, applicants must meet the following requirements:


  • Completion of 160 credit points from years 1 and 2 of the Bachelor of Occupational Therapy pass degree
  • Minimum grade point average of 5.0 on the ACU seven-point scale

Completion Requirements

To qualify for the Bachelor of Occupational Therapy (Honours) degree, students must complete 320 credit points from the Schedule of Unit Offerings, consisting of:


  1. 10 credit points from Core Curriculum units (Part A)
  2. 210 credit points from Specified units (Part B)
  3. 20 credit points from Professional Practice units (Part C)
  4. 80 credit points from Honours units (Part D)

Exit Points

Students who have successfully completed 220 to 230 credit points from the Bachelor of Occupational Therapy units, excluding the Core Curriculum units, and 10 to 20 credit points from the Core Curriculum units may exit with the following qualification:


  • Bachelor of Allied Health

Progression Requirements

Students normally complete a unit or units at an introductory level (100-level) in an approved sequence before undertaking advanced level units (200 or 300-level) in that sequence.


Other Requirements

Students are required to follow the pattern of unit enrolment set out in the relevant Course Enrolment Guide, unless otherwise approved by the Course Coordinator. In all aspects of progress through the course, students will be advised by the Course Coordinator and bound by decisions of the School Committee.
