Overview
The Bachelor of Early Childhood Education (Birth to Five Years) (Accelerated) is a degree program designed for students who have completed a Diploma in Early Childhood Education and Care or an equivalent qualification approved by ACECQA. The program is offered at various locations, including Ballarat, Blacktown, Brisbane, Melbourne, and Strathfield.
Admission Requirements
To be eligible for admission to the course, an applicant must:
- Have completed a Diploma in Early Childhood Education and Care or an equivalent qualification approved by ACECQA
- Be currently employed by an eligible early childhood service that delivers (or intends to deliver) a funded kindergarten program (for Victoria and New South Wales students)
Completion Requirements
To qualify for the degree, a student must complete 240 credit points from the Schedule of Unit Offerings, consisting of:
- 60 credit points from Education Studies (Part A)
- 50 credit points from Effective Teaching Units (Part B)
- 110 credit points from Early Childhood Units (Part C)
- 20 credit points from Core Curriculum Units (Part D)
Other Requirements
- Students must pass all professional experience components, including professional experience embedded within units
- Requirements for working with children: All students enrolled must have the appropriate approvals before they may enter a classroom
Exit Points
A student who has successfully completed the requirements set out for the following courses may exit from the Bachelor of Early Childhood Education (Birth to Five Years) with that qualification:
- Non-Award Certificate in Educational Studies
- Diploma in Educational Studies (Tertiary Preparation)
- Bachelor of Educational Studies
Progression Requirements
Students are required to follow the pattern of unit enrolment set out in the relevant Course Enrolment Guide, unless otherwise approved by the Course Coordinator.
