Program Overview


Bachelor of Physiotherapy

Overview

The Bachelor of Physiotherapy is a four-year full-time course that provides students with the knowledge, skills, and clinical experience necessary to become a physiotherapist. The course is offered at the Ballarat, Brisbane, and North Sydney campuses.


Admission Requirements

To be eligible for admission to the Bachelor of Physiotherapy course, applicants must have completed the following prerequisites at year 12 level, or equivalent:


  • English Standard, English as an Additional Language or Dialect (Band 4 for all), plus at least one of Biology, Chemistry, or Physics (Band 2 for all) in New South Wales
  • English (Units 3 & 4, C); one of Biology, Chemistry, or Physics (Units 3 & 4, C) in Queensland
  • Units 3 and 4 - a study score of 30 in English (EAL) or 25 in any other English, and a study score of 25 in one of Biology, Chemistry, or Physics in Victoria

Applicants must also comply with the Admission to Coursework Programs Policy. International students need to meet the English Language Proficiency requirements as defined in the Admission to Coursework Programs Policy.


Completion Requirements

To qualify for the Bachelor of Physiotherapy degree, students must complete 320 credit points from the Schedule of Unit Offerings, consisting of:


  1. 70 credit points from Specified Units (Part A)
  2. 20 credit points from Inter-professional Units (Part B)
  3. 210 credit points from Physiotherapy Practice Units (Part C)
  4. 20 credit points from University Core Curriculum Units (Part D)

Exit Points

A student who has successfully completed 230 credit points from units, and 10 credit points of Core Curriculum units, may exit from the course with the following qualification:


  • Bachelor of Allied Health

Progression Requirements

Students need to complete a unit or units at an introductory level (100-level) in an approved sequence before undertaking advanced level units (200 or 300-level), unless otherwise approved by the Course Coordinator.

Students must complete exactly 70 credit points from the following units:


  • ANAT101: Physiotherapy Anatomy 1
  • ANAT102: Physiotherapy Anatomy 2
  • BIOL125: Human Biology 1
  • BIOL126: Human Biology 2
  • PHTY203: Physical Activity and Exercise in Physiotherapy
  • PHTY208: Pathophysiology for Physiotherapy
  • ALHT210: Neuroscience for Allied Health

Part B: Inter-Professional Units

Students must complete exactly 20 credit points from the following units:


  • ALHT106: Psychology for Allied Health
  • HLSC220: Health Care Ethics

Part C: Physiotherapy Practice Units

Students must complete exactly 210 credit points from the following units:
