Unit Rationale, Description, and Aim
The effective management of organisational change is crucial for achieving sustainable organisational outcomes. This unit aims to enhance students' knowledge of organisational change theory and practices, developing their understanding of the processes and skills necessary to design, manage, and implement sustainable change solutions.
Learning Outcomes
To successfully complete this unit, students will demonstrate the following learning outcomes:
- Evaluate foundation frameworks, philosophies, and theories related to organisational change management.
- Determine organisational change intervention strategies, addressing ethical, social, and sustainability issues while respecting individual dignity.
- Apply change models to identify organisational and behavioural issues affecting change needs and implementation.
- Demonstrate the ability to work autonomously and with peers to develop practical and sustainable interventions.
- Apply effective written and oral communication skills.

Learning and Teaching Strategy
This unit takes an enquiry-based learning approach, guiding students in developing knowledge associated with organisational change through workshops and experiential learning.
Assessment Strategy
To pass this unit, students must complete and submit three graded assessment tasks, achieving an aggregate mark of at least 50%. The assessment tasks include:
- Analytical Report (25%): A 1000-word analytical research report critically analysing and evaluating change management frameworks and theories.
- Change Diagnosis Report (35%): A 1500-word change diagnostic report applying change processes and frameworks to real-life scenarios.
- Change Plan Proposal (40%): A 1250-word written change plan proposal and a 5-minute video or 10-minute live presentation to stakeholders, collectively applying and integrating change theories, models, and frameworks.
