Program Overview


Introduction to the Kelet-Magyarországi Szépkorúak Akadémiája (KMSZA)

The Kelet-Magyarországi Szépkorúak Akadémiája (KMSZA), or the East Hungarian Academy for the Elderly, was initiated in 2015 by the Department of Gerontology at the University of Debrecen's Faculty of Health Sciences, in collaboration with the Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg County Committee of the Debrecen Academic Committee's Gerontology Workgroup, and with the participation of the Municipality of Nyíregyháza, under the leadership of Prof. Dr. Imre Semsei.


Mission and Objectives

The academy continues the tradition of providing lecture series for the elderly on various topics. This form of information dissemination has a long history, although it has been interrupted and restarted several times. The solution to the problems of the aging Hungarian society can be contributed to by information dissemination, which inspired the revival of these traditions.


Leadership

The academy is led by Dr. habil Marianna Móré, Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences at the University of Debrecen, and Head of the Department of Gerontology.

Currently, the Idsakadémia (Academy for the Elderly) welcomes interested individuals over 50 with plenary lectures in two cities: Nyíregyháza and Szolnok.
