Program Overview


Master Agricultural Sciences in the Tropics and Subtropics

The Master's program in Agricultural Sciences in the Tropics and Subtropics is designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of agricultural sciences, with a focus on the tropics and subtropics.


Admission Requirements

To be eligible for the program, applicants must meet the following requirements:


  • An above-average Bachelor's degree in agricultural, environmental, or natural sciences, or a related field, from a university or college with a minimum of three years of regular study time, or an equivalent degree (total of 180 ECTS).
  • If the grade of the degree is not above-average, the applicant must provide proof of their special aptitude for the program (see the Admission Regulations, § 4).
  • Proven English language skills at the level of TOEFL 90 (ibt), IELTS academic 6.5, or Duolingo 125 points. Alternatively, a German university entrance qualification (HZB) is accepted if English was taken as a subject in the upper school for at least four semesters and the average grade (excluding a separate Abitur exam) is at least 8 points.
  • An APS certificate is required for applicants from China, India, and Vietnam.

Application Process

Applications for the Master's program in Agricultural Sciences in the Tropics and Subtropics must be submitted online through the HohCampus application portal. The following documents must be uploaded during the application process:


  • University entrance qualification (e.g., Abitur)
  • Bachelor's certificate and transcript
  • Proof of English language skills
  • Optional: proof of special aptitude for the program, proof of an above-average degree, and a letter of motivation

    • German and EU applicants: September 15

Special Aptitude
