Modelling and Operation of Electrical Grids
Program Overview
Program Overview
The Modelling and Operation of Electrical Grids program, denoted as IEE/M2-SGB, is a specialized course offered within the university's curriculum. This program is designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of electrical grids, focusing on modeling, calculation, and operation within the context of liberalized markets.
Objectives
The primary objective of this program is to equip students with the knowledge and skills necessary to understand the functioning of electrical grids from two key perspectives:
- The methods of modeling and calculating electrical grids
- The operation of grids within the framework of liberalized markets
Program Structure
The program is structured into two main parts:
- Modélisation and Calcul des réseaux (Modeling and Calculation of Networks): This part delves into the theoretical and practical aspects of modeling electrical grids, including the introduction to the problematic of modeling in large electrical networks, typology of network problems, and methods of calculating network parameters.
- Dérégulation (Deregulation): This section focuses on the operation of electrical grids in the context of liberalized markets, covering topics such as the conduct of networks, interconnections, introduction to electricity markets, market mechanisms, and the management of congestions.
Responsibilities and Credits
- Responsable(s): Yvon BESANGER-MOLERES
- Crédits ECTS: 5.0
Prerequisites
Students are required to have a background in:
- Module « Energie electrique » TC1
- Bases d'économie
Assessment
The evaluation of student knowledge is conducted through two primary methods:
- Evaluation non rattrapable (EN): 50% of the final grade, based on the average of reports from the "Modélisation et calculs de réseaux" practical work and the defense of the deregulation project.
- Evaluation rattrapable (ER): 50% of the final grade, assessed through a 2-hour written exam covering the entire course material.
Calendar and Language
- The course is scheduled in the 9th semester for students in the Master inter SGB and Ingénieur IEE programs.
- The course is taught exclusively in English.
Additional Information
- Code de l'enseignement: 5EUS5MFR
- Langue(s) d'enseignement: English
