Program Overview
Introduction to the Graduate Program
The Graduate Institute of History at National Central University formally began recruiting students in 1993, with the goal of training graduate students to conduct research on Chinese history from the Ming and Qing dynasties onwards, as well as Taiwanese history. Students are required to read a large amount of Chinese materials and are also expected to be familiar with important Western classics.
Program Requirements
- Students need to study a significant amount of Chinese literature.
- Familiarity with important Western works is also required.
- This includes understanding and being able to analyze key Western texts.
- The institute encourages students to take courses in foreign languages, such as Japanese, English, and French, to enhance their language abilities and broaden their research capabilities.
Research Areas
The program focuses on the following research areas:
- Chinese history from the Ming and Qing dynasties onwards.
- Taiwanese history.
Language Requirements
