Introduction to the EMI Program

The National Taiwan Normal University is implementing the "EMI Teacher Professional Community Subsidy Program" and the "EMI Academic English Talent and Leadership Course" to enhance the professional capabilities of university teachers, teaching assistants, and counselors in English-Medium Instruction (EMI).

Program Objectives

The primary objective of these programs is to optimize EMI teaching skills, pursue teaching excellence, and become the core driving force for promoting EMI teaching and improving its quality in universities.

Program Details

EMI Teacher Professional Community Subsidy Program

• This program invites teachers with EMI teaching experience to form professional communities based on different teaching focuses, including:
  • Classroom practice-oriented
  • Curriculum design-oriented
  • AI technology application-oriented
• Through collaborative learning, practice, and feedback mechanisms, the program aims to deepen teaching capabilities and accumulate classroom observation and application evidence.
• EMI experts will be invited to participate in discussions, promoting diversified and innovative teaching methods.

EMI Academic English Talent and Leadership Course

• This course is open to university students, including those in undergraduate and graduate programs, as well as individuals interested in becoming EMI teaching assistants (TAs) or writing center counselors.
• The course is divided into four periods throughout the year and is taught by EMI experts and academic English instructors.
• The primary teaching mode is online, allowing for flexible accommodation of learning needs and enhancing academic English abilities.
• The program also welcomes cooperation with other universities to establish specialized classes for EMI academic English talent and leadership courses.
