Accelerated MSA Program

The accelerated version of the Master of Science in Accountancy (MSA) program is designed to give selected undergraduate students the opportunity to be admitted into the master's degree program and begin their graduate coursework while completing their undergraduate degree.

Program Overview

Students in the accelerated master's program can enroll in up to six (6) credits, typically up to two three-credit classes, of 500-level courses during the last two semesters of their undergraduate career. These 500-level courses can be used to satisfy the degree requirements for both a bachelor's and master's degree. The remaining requirements for the master's degree are satisfied by the student in the semesters subsequent to the award of the bachelor's degree. All requirements for both the bachelor's and master's degrees must be met.

Eligibility Requirements

To be eligible for admission, students must be current Boise State University undergraduates majoring in Accountancy and must meet the following criteria by the end of the semester in which they apply:

• Completion of at least 75 credits required for the undergraduate degree, including:
  • ACCT 302
  • ACCT 304
  • ACCT 306
  • ACCT 314
  • ACCT 350 by the end of the application semester.
• A minimum cumulative GPA of 3.3 on a 4.0 scale.
• A minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale for the following set of courses:
  • ACCT 302
  • ACCT 304
  • ACCT 306
  • ACCT 314
  • ACCT 350
• A student's career goals and the alignment between those goals and an MSA degree will be carefully considered.

Admission Process

All students applying for the accelerated version of the MSA degree must schedule an appointment with the MSA Program Director for a brief interview to discuss their career goals. In addition, students must meet with their undergraduate advisor to ensure that enrolling in the accelerated MSA degree program will not delay completion of their undergraduate education and earning of their bachelor's degree.
