Boise State University's online Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Applied Science in Cyber Operations and Resilience is designed to help individuals make a career change into cybersecurity, position themselves for success, and potentially continue their education to increase their knowledge and marketability.

Program Overview

The programs prepare students to anticipate, detect, mitigate, and manage threats across cyber, physical, and interdependent infrastructure systems. With an emphasis on the interconnectedness of these systems, students will learn to take a holistic approach to creating resilient systems to facilitate their cybersecurity career change.

Unique Approach

Unlike other programs devoted to mathematics or computer science, Boise State's approach to cyber operations centers on securing people, processes, and technology together. This approach enables students to achieve true resilience, making the field accessible and relevant to students from all backgrounds.

Program Outcomes

Each program option prepares students to become cybersecurity professionals with practical skills in operational thinking, tools, and methodologies that reduce risk and strengthen system resilience.

Optional Certificates

The bachelor's degree program options further allow students to facilitate their move into cybersecurity with three optional certificates that can be added to a bachelor's degree or earned as stand-alone credentials. These 12-credit cyber certificates can be completed in as few as two semesters:

• Certificate in Cyber Operations: Learn to create and protect resilient systems and networks with an education that is more than theory-based and centered on real-world application.
  • This certificate focuses on the practical aspects of cyber operations.
• Certificate in Applied Computing, Systems and Network: Learn the fundamental principles of secure design, computational thinking, cloud computing, python programming, and more.
  • This certificate covers a broad range of topics related to computing and networking.
• Certificate in Cyber for All: All students, regardless of major, need to understand fundamental cyber defense skills and the implications of good versus bad cyber hygiene.
  • This certificate bridges the gap in cyber awareness and provides essential skills for all students.
