Pupil Personnel Services Intern Credential Program
The Pupil Personnel Services (PPS) Credential Program in School Counseling or School Psychology offers an intern credential to candidates who are employed as interns in a public school with an approved Internship Agreement with CSUN, while completing their clinical practice/fieldwork hours required for the program.
Eligibility Requirements
To be eligible for an internship, candidates must have met all of the following requirements:
- Be admitted to the PPS Credential Program
- Hold a Bachelor's Degree from a regionally accredited institution in the US or equivalent
- Have completed the Basic Skills Requirement
Intern Credential Request
Upon securing an offer of employment, an Intern Authorization for Employment form must be completed. The form requires:
- Section I to be completed by the candidate and forwarded to the employer
- Section II to be completed and signed by the employer and emailed back to the candidate
- Section III to be completed by the Faculty Advisor after the employer has completed Section II
Submission of Documents
The following documents must be sent to the Credential Office:
- Signed Intern Authorization for Employment form
- Intern Credential Request form
Processing and Issuance of Credential
Once the Credential Office has received the required forms, an online recommendation will be submitted. The candidate will be notified by the Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CTC) to complete the application, which includes a 'Personal and Professional Fitness' questionnaire and payment portion of the process. A payment of $100 must be made within 90 days of the recommendation date. After payment, the CTC will forward a payment confirmation number, and subsequently, an email confirming that the credential has been issued.
Important Notes
- Candidates must be in good standing in their previous or current university and in the CSUN credential program, if applicable
- All forms submitted must be filled out completely and accurately
- Failure to complete Intern Credential processing, including payment, will jeopardize employment and program eligibility
- An Intern Credential will typically be filed within five working days of receipt, provided all requirements are met.
