Program Overview
Music Performance Program
The Music Performance program at DePaul University combines coursework and individual and studio musical instruction with performance experience in both large and small ensembles. This program is designed to perfect musical performance proficiencies and prepare students for their careers.
Program Description
The program includes performance opportunities in various instruments, such as bass, bassoon, cello, clarinet, flute, guitar, horn, oboe, percussion, piano, saxophone, trombone, trumpet, tuba, viola, violin, and voice. Students will have the chance to perform in many of the school's large and small ensembles, along with chamber music groups and individual recitals. The School of Music produces over 300 student performances each year, providing students with extensive performance experience.

Course Requirements
The program requires students to complete various courses, including:
- Applied lessons (APM 205 and APM 305)

Checkpoints
Undergraduate students in classical performance will perform a checkpoint audition at the end of their sophomore year. The student's applied instructor and/or area coordinator or director will provide specific information on content and required music. Successful completion of the checkpoint audition is required for continuation in the performance degree.
