Program Overview


Introduction to the Journalism Program

The Journalism program at DePaul University is designed to prepare students for a career as multimedia content producers and video storytellers. The program focuses on developing a skill set that prepares students for the constantly evolving field of journalism, with an emphasis on industry trends, professional equipment, software, and online tools.


Program Overview

The Bachelor of Arts in Journalism degree program is offered at the Loop Campus in downtown Chicago, providing students with access to many media outlets and opportunities to work professionally with leading companies in the industry. The program allows students to combine their undergraduate degree in Journalism with one of the following master's degree programs: Health Communication, Journalism, Media and Cinema Studies, or Communication and Media. Additionally, the 3+3 BA/JD Program is available, which enables high-achieving first-year undergraduate students to be admitted simultaneously to the College of Communication and the College of Law.

Internship Credit

Students in the major may take CMN 394 and/or CMN 395 (when work relates to the major). To take CMN 394 or CMN 395, students must have completed two of the four communication core classes, two courses in the chosen major, and have fulfilled internship program eligibility requirements.
