Program Overview
Accelerated 3+ Pathologists' Assistant Program
The Accelerated 3+ Pathologists' Assistant option is offered through the College of Health Professions at Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science. This program is available to Pathways Honors students pursuing an undergraduate degree in one of the following programs at DePaul:
- Biological Sciences (BA), Accelerated 3+ Pre-Pathologists' Assistant Concentration
- Health Sciences (BS), Accelerated 3+ Pre-Pathologists' Assistant Concentration
Program Description
Following three years of study at DePaul, students will begin work on their two-year Pathologists' Assistant MS program in the College of Health Professions. This program prepares students for the professional practice of surgical and autopsy pathology in a continually evolving health care environment. The program is a recognized leader in the field for:
- Curricular innovation
- Scholarly research
- Community service
Admission Criteria
Admission to the College of Health Professions at Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science is competitive, and there is no guarantee of admission. However, students who apply through their pre-health advisor will receive priority screening.
Application Process
To apply, students must:
- Apply directly to Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science by completing their application online, including transcripts and letters of recommendation
- Work with DePaul's Pre-Health Advising Committee (PAC)
- Register with PAC and state their intention of utilizing the Accelerated 3+ option for Pathologists' Assistant
- Notify PAC by the winter of their second year at DePaul to participate in the committee letter writing process
- Complete an interview with their pre-health advisor before starting the PAC committee letter of recommendation process
Requirements for Viable Applicants
To be a viable applicant for early admission to the College of Health Professions, students must:
- Have completed at least 96 credit hours prior to application
- Meet with their pre-health advisor to map out a course plan
- Ensure they are ready to apply to the College of Health Professions
Career Exploration
Students can explore a career as a Pathologists' Assistant by:
- Taking courses such as HLTH 120 ("Exploring the Health Sciences") and HLTH 200 ("Foundations of Health Sciences")
- Registering for the Pre-Health Program at DePaul
- Joining student organizations, such as the pre-pathologists' assistant club or pre-health career community
Tuition and Fees
When taking courses at Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science, students are responsible for paying tuition at their rate.
Graduation and Commencement
Students must apply for degree conferral via Campus Connection in anticipation of the quarter when they plan to finish their baccalaureate degree. After completing their fourth year, students may still walk at DePaul's commencement ceremony.
