Program Overview
Program Overview
The New York Journalism program immerses journalism majors in a wide range of newsrooms in New York City, exploring how these news organizations produce stories that engage and impact the communities they cover. Students will visit newsrooms, network with professionals, and explore each news organization's work, audience engagement, ethical perspectives, and business opportunities.
Program Details
The course introduces students to many possible applications for their journalism degree and helps them analyze and create professional-quality journalism. New York Journalism includes travel and coursework over a two-week period that corresponds with December Intersession. Students begin with class meetings in Chicago, then travel to New York for three days of newsroom visits. When they return, students develop and deliver presentations on the insights gained from the experience.
