APX National High School Math and Science Ability Test
Program Overview
Introduction to APX
The APX (Advanced Placement eXams) is a national high school math and science ability test created by the College of Science, National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University, and the Laser Application Laboratory. The test aims to help high school students understand their math and science learning levels and weaknesses.
Purpose of APX
The purpose of APX is to provide a self-testing platform for high school students to assess their math and science abilities. The test is designed to help students identify their strengths and weaknesses, and to provide a benchmark for their academic performance.
Test Content
The APX test covers four subjects: mathematics, physics, chemistry, and biology. The test is divided into four levels: initial, middle, middle-high, and high. Each level has a different range of scores, and students can choose to take one or more subjects at a time.
Test Format
The test format includes multiple-choice questions and open-ended questions. The test is designed to assess students' problem-solving skills, critical thinking, and analytical abilities.
Eligibility
The APX test is open to all high school students in Taiwan. Students can register for the test individually or through their schools.
Registration Fee
The registration fee for the APX test is as follows:
- Initial level: NT$550 per subject
- Middle level: NT$550 per subject
- Middle-high level: NT$550 per subject
- High level: NT$650 per subject
Discount Policy
There are discounts available for students who register for multiple subjects or through their schools. The discount policy is as follows:
- Individual registration: 15% discount for four or more subjects
- School registration: 10% discount for each subject
Low-Income Student Policy
Low-income students can apply for a fee waiver. Students who are eligible for the fee waiver must provide proof of their low-income status.
Certificate
Students who take the APX test will receive a certificate of participation. Students who pass the test will receive a certificate of achievement.
Scoring System
The scoring system for the APX test is as follows:
- Initial level: 50% or above
- Middle level: 50% or above
- Middle-high level: 50% or above for the A part, and 15% or above for the B part
- High level: 50% or above for the A part, and 20% or above for the B part
Test Dates
The APX test is held twice a year, in February and August.
Test Locations
The APX test is held in 12 locations throughout Taiwan.
