Summer School for Foreign Specialists in the Field of Engineering and Artificial Intelligence

The Gorchakov Fund in partnership with Novosibirsk State University (NSU) launches the call for applications to join a fellowship programme for non-Russian professionals. The programme is held as part of the New Generation programme and will run from May 23 to June 17, including a stay in Moscow for the first week and a stay in Novosibirsk for the next three weeks.

Programme Details

• The programme is an opportunity to gain new knowledge at NSU, which is one of the best universities in Russia.
• Participants will attend thematic trainings led by top experts and take part in innovative professional workshops.
• The programme allows participants to exchange experience with counterparts from different countries.
• The fellowship programme participants will work in a group that fits the chosen area of study.
• The event will result in drafting and presenting an independent scientific project.

Date and Location

• Date of the event: May 23 June 17, 2024.
• Location: Moscow + Scientific Akademgorodok, Novosibirsk (Russia).
• Working language: English.

Eligibility

• Non-Russian experts who pursue studies and work in the fields that fit the fellowship programme are welcomed to take part in the selection process.
• Candidate specification:
  • Non-Russian citizenship.
  • Age 25-35.
  • Place of residence outside Russia.
  • Holder of a relevant degree (linked to one of the three areas of study).
  • Current work in the respective speciality.
  • Professional command of English (B2 level and above).
  • Knowledge of Python, basic machine learning algorithms, and basic medical knowledge.

Selection Criteria

• Applicants for the fellowship will be selected on a competitive basis.
• The selection criteria include:
  • Good academic performance.
  • Other research and expert activities of an applicant (participation in conferences, grant receipts, research fellowships, expert publications, media comments, etc.).
  • Results of the (online) interview.

Terms of Participation

• The organisers provide:
  • Travel from a city of residence to Novosibirsk and back.
  • Accommodation for the whole period of the scientific and educational event.
  • Travel as part of the programme.
  • Visa support.
  • Medical insurance.
  • Scholarship for the duration of the fellowship in the amount of 30,000 rubles.
• The participants pay for:
  • Meals for the duration of the research and education school.

• The programme includes three research areas:
  • Artificial intelligence and medicine.
  • Information technologies and photonics.
  • Information technologies in urban environment (smart cities).
