The online medical laboratory science program is a degree completion program designed for medical laboratory technicians with an associate's degree or equivalent who want to advance their career. This program allows students to build upon their current knowledge and enhance their judgment and leadership skills.

• The program is 100% online, providing maximum flexibility for working professionals to complete the bachelor's degree at their own pace.
• The program can be completed in five semesters, with two start dates each year, and most courses are seven weeks long.
• Upon graduating, students will be eligible to take the MLS (ASCP) Board of Registry exam.

Admission Requirements

• To qualify for the online MLT to MLS bachelor's degree program, applicants must:
  • Be a graduate of a NAACLS accredited medical laboratory technician program with an associate degree or equivalent.
  • Have current certification as an MLT (ASCP)CM or be board eligible and successfully pass the American Society for Clinical Pathology Board of Certification (ASCP-BOC) before beginning MLS coursework.
  • Have current work experience as an MLT in a clinical laboratory.

Admission Information

• The number of credits needed to complete the program will vary based on how many credits are transferred.
• At least 30 credit hours must be completed at BGSU to earn the degree.
