Associate of Science (Nursing) - Collaborative with Firelands Regional Medical Center School of Nursing
The Associate of Science (Nursing) program is a collaborative effort between Bowling Green State University (BGSU) Firelands and Firelands Regional Medical Center School of Nursing (FRMCSN). FRMCSN has a long history of providing excellence in nursing education, spanning over 100 years. The school is fully accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing, Inc.
Program Overview
Upon completing the three-year program, students receive a diploma in nursing from FRMCSN, which qualifies them to take the registered nurse licensure examination. Additionally, graduates receive an Associate of Science degree from BGSU Firelands. The program also offers a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to Registered Nurse (RN) option, which includes a 2-year program (RN diploma with some college credit).
Educational Options
The program provides various educational options for students, including:
- Associate of Science Degree (awarded from BGSU Firelands): This degree is earned simultaneously with the Nursing Diploma and includes all prerequisites for those nurses who choose to pursue the Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree completion program.
- 3-year Nursing Diploma (awarded from Firelands Regional Medical Center School of Nursing): The Diploma Program provides an ideal educational experience, allowing students to apply skills learned throughout the nursing program. Students are given the opportunity to provide direct patient care in a variety of clinical settings.
- 2-year LPN to RN Program: This program is an accelerated option for LPNs to achieve an RN diploma. These students take selected BGSU Firelands courses but do not receive an Associate of Science degree.
Continuing Education
Students can elect to continue their studies to earn a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree for Registered Nurses. This option is available for those who wish to further their education and advance their careers in nursing.
