Management Information Systems

The management information systems specialization deals with the intelligent use of information technology in business organizations. The program provides in-depth study of business processes in companies, computers, programming, computer networks, Internet, electronic commerce, security in information systems, database management systems, information systems analysis, design, and development, and management of information system projects. The program emphasizes application of problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal skills combined with knowledge of business and computers to improve a business organization's productivity and profitability.

BSBA Areas of Specialization

The Department of Accounting and Management Information Systems offers a specialization in Management Information Systems. The purpose of this specialization is to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the use of information technology in business organizations.


Program Requirements

BSBA General Degree Requirements

Students completing the management information systems specialization must complete University, general degree, admission core, and business core requirements for the BSBA degree, including admission to the BSBA program.


Management Information Systems Specialization

The Management Information Systems specialization requires 24 hours of coursework. The requirements include:


  • Grade of "C" or better must be earned in each course taken for the specialization.
  • The following courses are required:
    • CS 2010
    • MIS 4210
    • MIS 4400
    • MIS 4500
    • MIS 4710
  • Three of the following MIS courses:
    • MIS 4020
    • MIS 4050
    • MIS 4170
    • MIS 4220
    • MIS 4600
    • MIS 4720
