Overview

The Information Systems specialization deals with the intelligent use of information technology in business organizations. The program provides in-depth study of business processes in companies, computers, programming, computer networks, Internet, electronic commerce, security in information systems, database management systems, information systems analysis, design, and development, and management of information system projects.

Program Emphasis

The program emphasizes the application of problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal skills combined with knowledge of business and computers to improve a business organization's productivity and profitability.

Numerous opportunities for employment in the area of information technology and systems analysis are available. Organizations need system professionals to identify, design, and develop systems, and expect these systems to improve the organization's competitive advantage and support the business operations.

Degree Requirements

• Students completing the Information Systems specialization must complete University, general degree, admission core, and business core requirements for the BSBA degree, including admission to the BSBA program.
• The Information Systems specialization requires 24 hours of coursework.
• A grade of "C" or better must be earned in each course taken for the specialization.

• Required courses: CS 2010, IS 3400, IS 3500, IS 4210, and IS 4710.
• Three of the following IS courses:
