About Program
Program Overview
Career Tech Workforce Education
The Career Tech Workforce Education program is designed to prepare students for a career-technical teaching license. Upon completion of the program, graduates are eligible for a career-technical teaching license, provided they have met all program requirements, successfully completed state-required assessments, and meet all license requirements.
College of Education and Human Development
The College of Education and Human Development offers the Career Tech Workforce Education major, which is located in the 529 Education Building.
Program Requirements
Students must complete one of the following two specializations:
- Business and Marketing Education, which leads to integrated business and marketing licensure
- Family and Consumer Sciences Education, which leads to family and consumer sciences education licensure
Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of the baccalaureate degree, students in Career Tech Workforce Education are expected to:
- Demonstrate understanding of student learning and development and diversity of students
- Apply skills in planning and delivering effective instruction, assessing students, creating learning environments, and collaborating and communicating with students, their parents, other educators, administrators, and the community to support student learning
- Demonstrate understanding of the importance of assuming responsibility for professional growth, performance, and involvement as individuals and as members of a learning community
- Demonstrate understanding of content for which they will have instructional responsibility as a teacher
Specializations
The program offers two specializations:
- Business and Marketing Education: This specialization requires 57 hours of content and leads to integrated business and marketing licensure.
- Family and Consumer Sciences Education: This specialization requires 54 hours of content and leads to family and consumer sciences education licensure.
