Mathematical Sciences Electives

Students are required to complete eight additional units at the 400 or 500 level, as approved by the Graduate Committee.


Exam Requirements

Preliminary written examinations are required in the areas of undergraduate analysis and algebra. Comprehensive oral examinations are also required, covering graduate analysis, graduate algebra, and a third approved topic. The written examinations are usually completed by the end of the first year, and the orals are taken in the last quarter of study.
