The Art and Design Department at Cal Poly offers a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. To apply, follow the steps outlined below:

How to Apply to Cal Poly's Art & Design Major

• STEP 1 Apply Online: Apply to attend Cal Poly as an Art and Design major for the following Fall quarter through the university's admissions website. All applicants must declare a major when submitting their application. The application period is from October 1 to December 1.
• STEP 2 Invitation for Portfolio Submission: After applying, applicants will receive confirmation and information on how to submit a portfolio via email.
• STEP 3 Submit Portfolio: Portfolios are due by January 31. The portfolio requirements are concentration-specific.
• STEP 4 Selections Made: All applicants will be notified of their admissions status by April 1.

Additional Information

• The Art and Design program accepts new students only in the Fall.
• The university determines which applicants meet the requirements for the Art and Design major. For more information, refer to the university's selection criteria for first-year and transfer students.
• Selected applicants will be invited to submit a portfolio.
• Portfolios will be reviewed after the deadline, and applicants can expect to see the results in March.
