The CHR Faculty Affiliate Program brings together faculty researchers whose work intersects with health, broadly defined. We welcome scholars from across colleges and disciplines who are advancing research, scholarship, and creative activity that contribute to individual, community, environmental, or population health.

Who Should Apply?

• Cal Poly faculty members whose research, scholarship, or creative activity relates to health and who are interested in engaging with the Center for Health Research.
• We are especially interested in faculty who want to:
  • Build interdisciplinary collaborations
  • Strengthen external funding proposals
  • Increase visibility of their health-related work
  • Connect with a cross-campus network of health scholars

As a CHR Faculty Affiliate, you will receive:

Community & Networking

• Invitations to CHR-hosted seminars, workshops, and networking receptions
• Opportunities to connect with faculty across colleges whose work intersects with health
• Inclusion in the CHR Affiliate Directory (name, department, research interests)

Research Development Resources

• Access to the Affiliate Corner of the CHR SharePoint site, including:
  • A curated library of successful grant proposal samples
  • Proposal development tip sheets
  • Grant boilerplates and shared language for center affiliation
• Quarterly CHR newsletter featuring funding opportunities, center updates, and affiliate highlights
• Support for student onboarding, research ethics training, and productivity tracking

Visibility & Recognition

• Option to list "Affiliate of the Cal Poly Center for Health Research" in grant proposals, your curriculum vitae, and professional biographies
• Opportunities to share accomplishments to be featured on CHR website, social media, and in the quarterly newsletter

Expectations of CHR Faculty Affiliates

To maintain an active and engaged community, affiliates are asked to:

• Complete a brief Faculty Affiliation Interest Form
• Agree to be listed in the public CHR Faculty Affiliate Directory
• Attend at least one CHR event per academic year (or respond to an annual engagement check-in)

How to Become an Affiliate

Interested faculty members can apply by completing a short Faculty Affiliation Interest Form. The CHR Scientific Director will follow-up with you within 1-2 business days.
