Program Overview
Introduction to the 2021 Visiting PhD Fellowship Programme
The 2021 Visiting PhD Fellowship Programme at the UNU World Institute for Development Economics Research (UNU-WIDER) is a unique opportunity for registered doctoral students to utilize the resources and knowledge available within UNU-WIDER to support their PhD dissertation or thesis research on developing economies.
Programme Details
The programme will take place online from September to November 2021 and gives participants the chance to work with UNU-WIDER researchers in areas of mutual interest. During the three-month online visiting PhD fellowship, selected candidates will engage with other PhD fellows and UNU-WIDER researchers to develop their research, with the aim of preparing one or more research papers and presenting an online seminar on their research findings.
Research Opportunities
Participants may also have the opportunity to publish their research in the WIDER Working Paper Series. The programme focuses on developing economies, and candidates working in other social sciences may apply, but should note that UNU-WIDER is an economics-focused institute.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must be enrolled in a PhD programme and have demonstrated the ability to conduct research on developing economies. Candidates should be fluent in oral and written English and possess good quantitative and/or qualitative analytical skills.
