Program Overview
Introduction to the UNU-IAS Postgraduate Degree Programmes
The UNU-IAS postgraduate degree programmes aim to produce the policymakers and researchers of tomorrow who will be at the forefront of global efforts towards a more sustainable future. UNU-IAS students benefit from the unique opportunity to study in central Tokyo at a global university within the framework of the United Nations.
Programme Overview
Students gain both academic knowledge and practical research skills by actively contributing to the institute's policy-oriented research areas. The programmes are intended for recent graduates, professionals, and practitioners aiming to pursue internationally focused careers, through employment in UN agencies, other international organisations, governments, civil society, or the private sector.
Specialisation on the Paris Agreement
Starting this year, students enrolled in the Master's programme will have the option of selecting the new specialisation on the Paris Agreement on climate change, the first of its kind to be offered by a UN organisation. The specialisation aims to enhance capacity for implementing the Paris Agreement and provide a practicum training opportunity in collaboration with global partners.
Language and Credits
All lectures are conducted in English. Enrolled students will have the opportunity to obtain credits not only from UNU-IAS but also other leading universities in Japan.
Joint Diplomas Programmes
Joint diplomas programmes with the University of Tokyo Graduate School of Frontier Science (UT-GSFS) and Sophia University are also available.
