Innovating with Design and AI (IDeA-1)

Innovating with Design and AI (IDeA-1) introduces students to the early stages of human-centred innovation through the integration of design thinking and artificial intelligence techniques.


Learning Objectives

By the end of the course, students will be able to:


  1. Identify stakeholders and their relationships in a complex system
  2. Frame problem statements and opportunity areas
  3. Generate and evaluate diverse and creative solution ideas using traditional and AI-augmented techniques
  4. Plan and execute effective teamwork
  5. Formulate and produce effective communication with multi-media content
  6. Gain proficiency in using AI tools to accelerate design
Measurable Outcomes
  • Students conduct and communicate user and contextual research
  • Students craft and iterate "How Might We" statements based on user research insights
  • Students submit distinct, creative concept directions
  • Students demonstrate collaboration and contribution to group tasks
  • Students create low-fidelity prototypes
