Introduction to the SUTD-Duke-NUS Special Track
The SUTD-Duke-NUS Special Track is a unique, interdisciplinary collaboration that aims to nurture clinical innovators and entrepreneurs with a foundation in engineering or architecture, who can think creatively and work across disciplines. This special track synergizes training in technology, design, and medicine, enabling graduates to treat patients, design medical innovations, improve hospital processes, reinvent the care model, and revolutionize the future of healthcare.
Program Overview
The SUTD-Duke-NUS Special Track is a cross-discipline collaboration that aims to nurture future clinician innovators and clinician entrepreneurs with a foundation in engineering or architecture who can think creatively and work across disciplines. Students will graduate with a Bachelor of Engineering (BEng) or Science (BSc) degree at SUTD and may proceed to pursue a Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree at Duke-NUS Medical School, contingent on academic performance and other criteria such as the Medical College Admission Test (MCAT).
Program Details
- Degree Options: Students will graduate with a Bachelor of Engineering (BEng) or Science (BSc) degree at SUTD.
- Conditional Admission: Students may proceed to pursue a Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree at Duke-NUS Medical School, contingent on academic performance and other criteria.
- Criteria for MD Program: Admission to the MD program is contingent on academic performance and other criteria, including the Medical College Admission Test (MCAT).
Admission and Enrollment
- Interview Process: Only shortlisted applicants will be interviewed by SUTD for admission into the Bachelor program and by Duke-NUS for conditional admission into the MD program.
- Withdrawal from the Program: Although there is no binding commitment to Duke-NUS at the time of admission, students should inform SUTD and Duke-NUS of their withdrawal from the track at least a year preceding medical school matriculation.
- Continuation with SUTD's Undergraduate Program: Students can still continue with SUTD's normal undergraduate degree program should they discontinue with the special track, subject to meeting the academic requirements for the undergraduate program.
Scholarships and Tuition Fees
- Scholarship Availability: Outstanding students who demonstrate academic excellence, leadership qualities, special talents, good moral character, and strong community spirit will be considered for scholarships for the undergraduate program.
- Application for Scholarships: Students may apply for scholarships for the graduate program before the program at Duke-NUS commences.
- Tuition Fees: The annual tuition fees for the undergraduate program and MD program will be pegged to the respective prevailing fees charged by SUTD and Duke-NUS.
