Program Overview
Introduction to Design Research
Course Description
The course "Introduction to Design Research" is a 7.5 hp course at the doctoral level, aimed at providing an introduction to design research. The course is designed to be completed during the first year of doctoral studies.
Course Objectives
The course objectives are to:
- Provide a basic understanding of design research and its methods
- Enable students to develop a personal research approach
- Foster critical understanding of gender equality aspects in design research
- Develop the ability to formulate a research proposal
Course Content
The course consists of three modules:
- Design Research - An Overview (3 hp): Introduction to basic aspects of design research, including methods and processes.
- Design Research - Current Design Research (3 hp): Examination of current design research, including the selection of relevant publications and analysis of research methods.
- Design Research Proposal (1.5 hp): Development of a research proposal based on insights gained during the course.
Examination
Examination is conducted through written and oral assignments for each module.
Course Literature
A list of required and recommended readings is provided, including books and articles on design research and related topics.
