Program Overview
Fire Dynamics II Course
The Fire Dynamics II course provides in-depth knowledge of fire dynamic phenomena of importance for the dimensioning of fire protection with a focus on the generation and spread of fire gases.
Course Description
The aim of the course is for the student to be able to use conservation equations to calculate smoke filling in room fires. A computer lab is included in the course, where a two-zone model is used to numerically calculate smoke filling in more complex scenarios. Smoke ventilation is a central part of the course and is covered at a basic level, based on fundamental fluid mechanics principles, as well as at a more practical level. The course also addresses the concentration of toxic gases in fire smoke. Finally, fire detection is also covered in the course.
