Program Overview
Introduction to the Propedeutic Course in Mathematics
The Propedeutic Course in Mathematics is designed to prepare incoming engineering students for their studies by refreshing their mathematical knowledge. The course is self-study, with support and guidance provided during a week of handled sessions.
Course Description
The course covers the content of chapters 1-4 in the book "Mot bättre vetande i matematik" by Dunkels et al. Students are expected to study the material independently, with the recommended time allocation being around one and a half weeks, although this may vary depending on individual needs.
Diagnostic Tests
After completing each chapter, students can take a diagnostic test to assess their understanding. These tests consist of 8 questions, with 1 point awarded for each correct answer, giving a maximum of 8 points per test. Each test can be taken up to three times, with the best result being saved. It is essential to complete the diagnostic tests before the final exam.
Bonus Points
Students who achieve a total of 24 points or more on all diagnostic tests will receive 1 bonus point, which can be carried over to the first exam in the courses M0065M and M0050M.
Final Exam
The final exam is a timed, 60-minute test consisting of 8 questions covering the material from chapters 1-4. Only one attempt is allowed. Students who score 6 points or more will receive 1 bonus point, which will be added to the points from the diagnostic tests and carried over to the first exam in the courses M0065M and M0050M.
Exam Schedule
The final exam will take place on September 1, between 8:00 AM and 13:00 PM. The exam will be open for three hours to accommodate students with lectures during passes 1 or 2.
Study Materials and Support
Students are recommended to purchase the book "Mot bättre vetande i matematik" by Dunkels et al. and review the chapters according to the provided plan. Handled sessions will be offered on the following dates:
- Friday, August 22, 09:00-11:00: Chapter 1
- Monday, August 25, 08:15-11:15: Chapter 2
