About Program
Program Overview
Statistisk Produkt- och Processutveckling
Course Description
The course treats advanced methods within experimental design and analysis, statistical process monitoring, and reliability analysis. These methods are used to support fact-based decision-making in operations management.
Course Details
- The course builds on quantitative methods in quality engineering introduced at the basic level in the course Quality Development.
- It introduces sequential experimental planning (screening, characterization, optimization), response surface methodology, and experimental design. These are suitable for many more complex industrial conditions, for example, when experiments are difficult to perform in random order.
- Within the area of process monitoring, advanced univariate control charts for variable and attribute data are studied. Multivariate methods for process monitoring, where several variables are monitored simultaneously, are introduced.
Course Structure
- The course contains laboratory elements. Problem-based learning is applied through tasks where students collaborate in groups.
- Students use advanced software for statistical analysis; both commercial software and open-source software such as R or Python are used.
Admission Requirements
- At least 120 credits of completed courses with at least a passing grade, including:
- Mathematical Statistics (S0001M) 7.5 credits
- Programming and Digitalization (D0028E) 7.5 credits
- Industrial Logistics (K0020N) 7.5 credits
