Introduction to Screen Acting
Course Details
The Introduction to Screen Acting course is a short course delivered in partnership with the Wrexham Academy of Screen Actors and Wrexham University. This course provides an introduction to screen acting, focusing on both the artistic and technical aspects.

What You Will Study
The course is structured over 10 weeks, covering the following topics:
- Week 1: Introduction to Screen Acting
- Week 2: Script Analysis and Character Development
- Week 3: Scene Work and Filming (Part 1)
- Week 4: Scene Work and Filming (Part 2)
- Week 5: Scene Editing and Analysis
- Week 6: Advanced Character Work and Filming (Part 1)
- Week 7: Advanced Character Work and Filming (Part 2)
- Week 8: Scene Review and Show-Reel Preparation
- Week 9: Portfolio Building - Show-Reel Scene
- Week 10: Portfolio Building - Headshots and Industry Preparation
Teaching & Assessment
The short course comprises 10 face-to-face taught sessions, each 2 hours long, with an additional 16 hours of asynchronous work. This includes script selection, script analysis, and character development. Performance rehearsal and self-evaluation/reflection are expected within directed independent study.
Fees & Funding
The course fee is Ł195.00 incl VAT. There are funding opportunities available for students living in Wales, which can cover the course fee. Eligibility and application details are available upon request.
Course Dates
The course starts on Wednesday, 8th January 2025, and sessions are held every Wednesday from 6 pm to 8 pm at the Wrexham Campus.
