Program Overview
The Clinical Mental Health Counseling program at LIU Post is a 60-credit master's degree program that provides students with the knowledge and skills necessary to work in a variety of clinical settings. The program is fully accredited by the Council for the Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP) and satisfies the educational requirements for the New York State Mental Health Counselors License.

Program Admission
Admission to the program requires:
- A bachelor's degree from an accredited institution

- Two professional and/or academic letters of recommendation

Accreditation

Licensure and Certification
The program prepares students to fulfill the educational requirements for licensure as a mental health counselor established by the New York State Education Department, Office of the Professions. Graduates of the program will be eligible to take the National Counselor Examination and apply for the Certified Alcohol and Substance Abuse Counselor-Trainee (CASAC-T) designation.
