Bachelor of Business Administration in Business Law / Juris Doctorate

This degree is designed for students who want a business degree with a focus on business law. To be successful in the business world, it's essential for all members of a business to have a basic understanding of business law to help them make better decisions and to define inappropriate behavior, to provide certainty and stability, to protect the public as well as the business, and to provide a mechanism for businesses to resolve disputes.

Bachelor of Arts in Economics / Juris Doctorate

Given that judges and practitioners increasingly rely on economic reasoning to resolve legal disputes, those who graduate from this economics and law program will have a unique competitive advantage over others. Specifically, by blending expertise in economics and law, students will have a successful career path in areas of legal practice such as antitrust law, tax law, bankruptcy, corporate and securities law where economic reasoning is often central to the legal arguments.

Bachelor of Arts in History / Juris Doctorate

Students in the Department of History build analytical skills, learning to weigh and interpret evidence and present their findings in writing. History students at UA acquire an understanding of how communities fit into larger historical and global contexts, preparing them to succeed in an interconnected world.

Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy / Juris Doctorate

The study of philosophy as an undergrad develops exactly the sorts of skills that law students will be required to draw upon in law school. These skills include: analyzing complex situations; drawing distinctions; formulating definitions; interpreting and comprehending abstract concepts and texts; evaluating evidence and arguments; and writing and speaking with clarity, focus, and argumentative rigor.

Bachelor of Science in Healthcare Administration / Juris Doctorate

Merit-based Scholarship

The University of Akron offers generous merit-based scholarship awards. Scholarships awarded in the bachelor's program will not continue into law school. If admitted to the School of Law, students will automatically be considered for merit-based scholarships for law school.
