Introduction to the University

The University of Tasmania, founded in 1890, is the fourth oldest university in Australia. It ranks among the top 2% of universities worldwide and is positioned 291st in the 2020 QS World University Rankings. The university has a leading position in Earth and Marine Science, Agriculture and Forestry globally, and it also ranks highly in other disciplines such as philosophy, environmental science, biological science, sociology, education, geology, and medicine according to the QS rankings. The university is renowned for its outstanding academic level and excellent faculty, and it has been one of the top ten universities in Australia recommended by the Australian Higher Education Commission for many years.

University Overview

The university has two campuses located in Hobart and Launceston, and a learning center in Burnie, a city on the northwest coast of Tasmania. It offers more than 100 undergraduate (Bachelor) degrees and over 150 graduate programs, ranging from graduate certificates to advanced research degrees. These courses are provided by five colleges and three professional institutions, covering degrees in fields such as architecture, maritime, and agriculture. The university has more than 35,000 full-time students, including over 7,000 international students from more than 100 countries.

Undergraduate Program in Electrical Engineering and Automation

The curriculum for Electrical Engineering and Automation at the university is uniquely designed and challenging, containing abundant content and focusing on cultivating students' innovation ability and enterprising spirit. The aim is to educate students to be academically qualified to enroll in Engineers Australia and to master comprehensive professional knowledge and technical skills recognized by the American Association of Engineers. The curriculum is designed to focus on laboratory experience, innovation ability cultivation, regular work reports writing, and providing opportunities to engage in scientific research. In the final year, each student undertakes a project and goes through the whole process from feasibility analysis to realizing it in practice and achieving success.

• Education Mode: The curriculum and syllabus are jointly developed by the two universities and carried out in the program. Some courses adopt original English edition textbooks, perform bilingual or all-English teaching, and implement credit system management. Program students who have studied at Shandong University of Science and Technology for four years, completed and passed the required curriculum, shall be awarded the general higher education graduation certificate of Shandong University of Science and Technology, and those who are qualified for a bachelor's degree shall be awarded the bachelor's degree of Shandong University of Science and Technology.
