Introduction to the Program

The "Public Affairs Management + Geographic Information Science" double bachelor's degree program is a collaborative effort between the Government Management College and the Earth Science College of Yunnan University. This program aims to serve the country's strategic and local economic and social development needs, with a focus on improving public safety governance.

Program Features

• The program is designed to cultivate students' abilities in natural disaster emergency management through a multidisciplinary approach, combining management science, geographic information science, philosophy, economics, politics, and law.
• It boasts a "large security and large emergency" framework, emphasizing the development of students' capabilities in emergency decision-making, command, and management, as well as innovation.
• The public management discipline has a first-level doctoral degree authorization point and a provincial-level "postdoctoral research mobile station." The public affairs management major has been approved as a national-level first-class undergraduate construction point.
• The geography discipline also has a first-level doctoral degree authorization point, with the geographic information science major approved as a provincial-level first-class undergraduate construction point.
• The program features separate recruitment, cultivation, and classes, with small-class teaching and a mentorship system. The curriculum includes core courses from both public affairs management and geographic information science, as well as interdisciplinary fusion courses.

Cultivation Objectives

The program aims to cultivate complex application management talents who possess:

• A solid foundation in public management basic theory and emergency decision-making, command, and management capabilities.
• Systematic mastery of natural disaster emergency management theories and methods, including risk assessment, monitoring and early warning, planning, prevention and mitigation, emergency response, emergency guarantee, and post-disaster reconstruction.

Duration and Degree

• The program has a four-year duration.
• Upon completion, students are awarded double bachelor's degrees in management and science.
