Program Overview
Introduction to the 3+2 Program with the University of California, Irvine
The 3+2 program is a collaborative effort between our university and the University of California, Irvine (UCI), aimed at providing students with a comprehensive education and international experience. This program allows students to earn two degrees - a bachelor's degree from our university and a master's degree from UCI - within a span of five years.
Program Overview
- The program is designed for engineering students who wish to pursue a master's degree at UCI.
- Students will spend three years completing their undergraduate studies at our university, followed by two years at UCI.
- During their first year at UCI, students will take specific engineering courses and work on research projects under the guidance of UCI faculty members.
- Students will also have the opportunity to take 2-3 graduate-level courses that can be applied towards their master's degree.
- Upon completion of their second year at UCI, students who meet the requirements will be awarded a master's degree from UCI.

Program Requirements
- Major in an engineering field (determined by our university's college)
- Completion of three full academic years at our university
- Minimum GPA requirement: 3.3/4.0
- English proficiency: iBT 85 / PBT TOEFL 550, or IELTS 7.0
Program Fees
- First year (administered by UCI's Continuing Education program): approximately $33,000
- Second year: approximately $36,000
- Living expenses: $18,000 to $24,000 per year
- Students who are accepted into the Ph.D. program will receive a scholarship and tuition waiver
Application Procedure
- By November 2024: Eligible engineering students apply
- December 2024: UCI conducts online interviews with applicants
- January 2025: Students receive admission results
- By February 28, 2025: Students confirm participation
- April 2025: Students complete the I-20 online application, including transcripts, class rank, TOEFL or IELTS scores, and a statement of purpose for the first year at UCI
Program Schedule
First Year
- UCI's first-year study plan must be approved by our university's college
- Program start date: late August or early September 2025
- Summer courses: scientific writing and optional GRE preparation
- Minimum of 12 units per quarter
- Optional advanced design courses
- Up to three UCI graduate-level courses can be taken if the cumulative GPA exceeds 3.5
- Online graduate application submission, including GRE scores (if required)
Second Year
- Completion of UCI's first year and receipt of a bachelor's degree from our university
- Minimum of 12 units per quarter
- Maintenance of a GPA of 3.0 or higher
- Fulfillment of all degree requirements and receipt of a master's degree from UCI
