Program Overview


Introduction to the University of British Columbia Vancouver Summer Program

The University of British Columbia (UBC) is one of the top universities in Canada, ranked 34th globally in the 2023 QS World University Rankings. The UBC Vancouver Summer Program (VSP) is a four-week program that offers students the opportunity to learn about Canadian culture, take high-level professional courses, and engage in cross-cultural exchanges with students from around the world.


Program Overview

  • The VSP program is designed to provide students with a comprehensive learning experience, including theoretical and practical studies.
  • Students will take two courses in a specific professional direction, with each course consisting of 39 class hours.
  • Upon successful completion of the program, students will receive an official UBC transcript and a certificate of completion, which can be exchanged for second-class mandatory credits at their home university.

Program Details

  • Duration: July 12, 2024 - August 12, 2024
  • Application Deadline: April 5, 2023 (tentative)
  • Fees: $5,825 CAD per person, including a $125 registration fee and $5,700 program fee (approximately $3.2 million CNY)
  • Coverage: The program fee includes tuition, textbook fees, on-campus accommodation, airport transportation (on specific dates and times), medical insurance, program activity fees, welcome and farewell ceremonies, and other related expenses.

Eligibility and Requirements

  • Student Status: Full-time undergraduate students aged 18 or above (some courses may be open to graduate students)
  • Language Proficiency: No strict language requirements, but students must have good English listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills to adapt to all-English instruction
  • Financial Capability: Students must have a certain level of financial resources to cover related expenses

Application Procedure

  • Internal Application: Fill out the "Yunnan University Student Overseas (Border) Exchange Learning Application Form" and submit it to the Mingyuan Building 326 office on the Chenggong campus
  • Group Application: Fill out the "VSP 2024 Group Application Form" and submit it to the school, which will then submit the group application to the VSP project team
  • Internal Application Deadline: March 15, 2024
  • Visa Application: Students can apply for a visa during the application period and use the UBC invitation letter to apply for a visa after the application is successful
