Introduction to the English Professional Program

The English Professional Program at Yunnan University's School of Foreign Languages has a long history dating back to 1938. The program has undergone significant developments over the years, including the establishment of the English Department in 1945 and the authorization to grant master's degrees in English Language and Literature in 1984.

The English Professional Program aims to cultivate students with a strong foundation in English language and literature, as well as the ability to adapt to the needs of national economic construction and social development. The program has a strong faculty team, with 18 teachers, including 6 professors, 6 associate professors, and 6 lecturers. All teachers have a master's or doctoral degree and have studied or conducted research overseas.

International Exchange

The English Department has established a student exchange program with Khon Kaen University in Thailand, allowing 2-3 students to study abroad for one semester each year.

Student Achievements

Students in the English Professional Program have consistently achieved excellent results in national English proficiency tests, with a passing rate of 91% for the College English Test Band 4 and 89.83% for the College English Test Band 8. Students have also won awards in national English competitions, such as the "CCTV Cup" and "Foreign Language Teaching and Research Press Cup" English speech, reading, and writing contests.

Graduates of the English Professional Program have a strong employment rate, with an average of 130 graduates per year and an employment rate of over 98%. Most graduates work in fields such as foreign affairs, foreign trade, international exchange, education, research, government, and tourism.
