Department of Accountancy
The Department of Accountancy of California State University, Long Beach (CSULB) is committed to developing accounting graduates with superior accounting and management skills necessary to be responsive to the needs of a dynamic accounting profession. The department is proud of its many graduates who have successfully pursued careers in public accounting, industry, government, not-for-profit institutions, and general business.
Curriculum and Program Overview
The curriculum integrates accounting theory with general education, placing special emphasis on developing students' communication, computer, and research skills along with their accounting expertise. The department has selected experienced faculty from both academia and the accounting profession to implement this curriculum.

Academic requirements are based on the current University Catalog. A student's academic requirements could be different depending on the catalog to which they have acquired "rights". Bachelor of Science in Business Administration: Accountancy
The department offers a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a focus on Accountancy. The program includes upper, lower, and graduate courses in accountancy, as well as a schedule of classes and major requirement worksheets.
Student Engagement and Support
Student activities are an integral part of the educational experience offered by the program. The CSULB chapters of Beta Alpha Psi and the Accounting Society (BAP/AS) work together to serve their members, providing opportunities for peer interaction, lecture programs, on-site firm tours, community service programs, and social functions. The strong financial support that BAP/AS receive from accounting professionals allows the organizations to offer substantial free social events and extensive scholarships to their members.
Career Support and Scholarships
The program offers career support through the Accounting Society and Beta Alpha Psi, as well as scholarships such as the AICPA Legacy Scholarships and the AICPA Scholarship for Minority Accounting Students. The Center for Scholarship Information also provides resources for students.
Master of Science in Accountancy
The Master of Science in Accountancy is designed for students and professionals who want to advance and develop their accounting knowledge in auditing, financial statement analysis, corporate governance, forensic accounting, and taxation required to meet the requirements for CPA licensure. The Accountancy Blended Masters program (4+1) is available to current CSULB undergrad students seeking a career in public accountancy, providing the fastest possible path to meeting the 150-hour CPA licensure requirements while earning both BSBA and MSA degrees in five years or less.
Accountancy Advisory Board
The COB Accountancy Advisory Board is a valuable resource of feedback, professional insight, talent, and support. The board provides counsel to the Director on issues affecting the school, curricula, programs, and employment opportunities of students, and engages in and supports the fundraising efforts of the School. The Advisory Board also provides key contacts for faculty to inform their research and teaching, and provides input to the Director on the strategic direction and monitors the progress of the College Department.
