Physical Education Teacher Education
The Physical Education Teacher Education (PETE) option provides students with the subject matter preparation required to earn a credential for teaching physical education in California public schools. The program includes two concentrations: K-12 Physical Education Teacher Education and Adapted Physical Education (APE) teacher education.
Physical Education Teacher Education Concentration
The K-12 PETE concentration meets the subject matter competence requirement for the Single Subject Preliminary Credential in Physical Education. Students are prepared to effectively plan, teach, and evaluate lessons in a variety of learning experiences that incorporate the California State Standards for Physical Education.
Adapted Physical Education Concentration
The Adapted Physical Education (APE) concentration provides students with the knowledge and skills necessary to teach physical education to students with disabilities. The program includes academic coursework and supervised fieldwork experiences, and is accredited by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CCTC).
Activity Programs
The Kinesiology department offers several activity programs, including:

After School Adapted Physical-activity Program (ASAPP)
The ASAPP program is designed for children with disabilities and neurodiversity, and provides individualized and group instruction in fundamental motor skills, health-related physical fitness, and cooperative lead-up games.
Camp Nugget Summer Program
The Camp Nugget program is a 4-week summer program that provides children with disabilities and neurodiversity with a variety of physical activity experiences, including aquatics, dance, and adapted sports.
Undergraduate Advising
Undergraduate advising for Kinesiology is done through the CHHS Advising Center, which provides students with guidance on declaring majors and minors, course scheduling, and graduating planning.
