Program Overview


Program Overview

The Design program offers two degree options: Design B.A. or Industrial Design B.S. To be considered for admission to the major, applicants must demonstrate the following requirements.


Admission Criteria

Applicants to the BFA or BS programs must receive a positive recommendation from a panel of faculty jurors following review of a portfolio submitted by the applicant. The portfolio is submitted after completing all lower-division Design coursework (100 and 200 level).


Academic Requirements

  • Minimum Cumulative GPA: 2.5
  • Minimum lower-division preparation (grade of C or better required)
    • Major Preparation Courses must be completed with a minimum GPA of 2.5

  • Course Number: DESN 120A
    • Course Title: Fundamentals of Design
  • Course Number: DESN 120B
    • Course Title: Fundamentals of Design

General Education Requirements

The following General Education courses are required and not covered by major preparation courses:
