Program Details
The university program in question is the Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology.
Overview of the Program
The program is designed to provide students with an understanding of human behavior, with three options available: General, Applied, and Research.
General Option
The General Option is designed to provide the student with an understanding of human behavior as an emphasis in liberal arts education. It is not designed for the student who is planning advanced study in psychology.
Applied Option
The Applied Option is designed to provide the student with some knowledge, methods, and skills in the application of psychology in areas such as community, clinical, industrial, and organizational psychology. Completion of this option may facilitate professional training in applied psychology or related fields.
Research Option
The Research Option is designed to provide the student with the concepts and skills which will serve as necessary preparation for graduate study in all areas of psychology. It consists of intensive study in theory, content, and research methods.
Requirements
- Lower Division:
- Psychology 100
- Psychology 200
- Psychology 210
- Mathematics 100
- Psychology 241 or 3 units of Biology
- Upper Division:
- A minimum of 24 units in Psychology including:
- Two courses from Psychology 331, 332, 333, 336, 337, 341
- One course from Psychology 351, 356, 361
- Additional courses for one of the following three options:
- General Option: 15 units of electives
- Applied Option:
- Psychology 310
- Psychology 314
- One course from Psychology 370, 375, 381
- Two courses from Psychology 415, 416, 418, 471, 473, and 472, 474, 475, 481
- Research Option:
- Psychology 310
- Psychology 401 or 402
- Two courses from Psychology 433, 437
- Psychology 441 or 445
- Psychology 451 or Psychology 46
- A minimum of 24 units in Psychology including:
