Program Overview
The Event Planning and Management minor provides students with expertise for careers in event planning and management. The curriculum covers skills and knowledge including negotiation, event planning, programming, promotion, budget, and legal issues.
Program Requirements
The minor requires 18 units of core courses, which include:
- HFHM 170: Introduction to Hospitality Management (3 units), with no prerequisites.
- HFHM 274: International Hospitality Development (3 units), with prerequisites of ENGL 100 or equivalent.
- HFHM 374: Meeting Planning in Hotels and Restaurants (3 units), with prerequisites of HFHM 170.
- REC 325: Advanced Program & Event Management (3 units), with prerequisites of REC 141 and REC 225, and a requirement of a "C" or better grade.
- REC 462: Travel, Tourism, and Resort Recreation Management (3 units), with a prerequisite of a "C" or better grade in REC 325.
- REC 465: Convention and Conference Planning (3 units), with prerequisites of a "C" or better grade in REC 325.
