Program Overview
Program Overview
The BFA in Screen Acting degree is an interdisciplinary major offered jointly by the Dodge College of Film and Media Arts and the Department of Theatre in the College of Performing Arts.
Curriculum
The core curriculum focuses on film studies, including film history and film production skills such as editing, directing, and screenwriting. Students have the opportunity to take two electives at the upper division level in either film or theatre.
Program Structure
As a BFA Screen Acting student, approximately half of the required major classes are in the Department of Theatre and the other half are in the Dodge College of Film and Media Arts.
Opportunities and Involvement
Many students in the BFA Screen Acting program are involved in various projects at Dodge College, working as actors and technicians. These projects range from participating in scenes for directing classes to working on graduate thesis films. The department facilitates opportunities by posting casting notices and informing theatre majors about them.
Interdisciplinary Collaboration
Casting at Dodge is open to all, allowing students to collaborate with peers from different disciplines and gain practical experience in the field.
